The Austin's Women's Clothing Swap, an event created by Rebekah Small and Harmony Eichstadt as a project in the Landmark Self-Expression and Leadership Program, is holding its second annual event on March 6 at the Soma Vida wellness center in Austin.
The event raises money and clothing for great causes, allows women to swap clothing, and features attractions such as a live band, a fashion show, raffle drawings and silent auction, and free clothing alterations.
The event collects clothing donations before the event starts – this year people can donate 7 days a week at the Corona Cafe on 1215 Corona Drive, or at Austin Baby at 701 S. Lamar Blvd. Proceeds from the fundraising and leftover, non-swapped clothing go to Safe Place, which helps those affected by domestic violence, and Women for Women International, which aids women affected by war and civil strife.
Last year's event raised over $1,300 for The Fistula Foundation as well as approximately one ton of clothing that was donated.
More information can be found at the Austin Women's Clothing Swap website, or on the Spitfire blog, which has pictures and other coverage of last year's event.
