‘Sing Out’ Holds 9th Annual Music Benefit for Rhode Island Hungry

The project created by Jane Bitto when she took part in Landmark Education’s Self-Expression and Leadership Program in 2003 to help alleviate hunger in Rhode Island’s East Bay is still going strong – this past weekend, from Thursday through Sunday, the 9th ‘Sing Out Against Hunger’ (SOAH) musical fundraising event took place at Evelyn’s Drive-In and Coastal Roasters. A total of 35 performers took part in this year’s event – all told, over $76,000 has been raised for local food banks since the events began.

The performances raise money through raffles, silent auctions and direct donations – to contribute, visit SOAH’s website, or read more about the event in Maureen Umehara’s story about the festivities.
